Supply Chain Graphic of the Week: Top 10 US LTL Carriers

LTL Carriers also Really Benefitting from eCommerce Growth

Feb. 18,  2021

What are the top US LTL carriers by revenue?

The Wall Street Journal this week published the chart below, showing the top 10 based on 2020 sales, as compiled just recently by SJ Consulting Group.

FedEx is a dominant number 1, with 2020 LTL revenues of nearly $7.5 billion, more than double the size of second place Old Dominion.

The chart was published as part of an article on how the long financially challenged LTL sector is now on a roll as it benefits from - what else - growth in ecommerce shipments. Those include deliveries to consumers for large items too big for parcel carriers, and also shipments to smaller, strategically located distribution sites too small to hold a full truckload full of inventory from a supplier.
