Every year about this time, the folks over the the Journal of Commerce publish a ranking of the top 25 US LTL carriers by revenue in 2016, as compiled by the SJ Consulting Group - not an easy task, as many of these carriers are private companies.
That list is below, with FedEx once again on top. In the number 2 spot is XPO Logistics, which acquired Con-Way Freight in 2015, while Old Dominion moved past YRC Worlwide for the number 3 position.

The fastest growing US LTL carrier was a company called LME, rising 14.1% off a small base to inch into the top 25. Dayton Frieght was the second fastest growing, rising a strong 7.8% in 2016 to $498 million in revenue, and moving into 15th place. It is a company on the move for sure.
The LTL industry is growing increasingly concentrated, with this top 25 collecting about 91% of the industry's total revenue pie of some $35 billion last year, a number which continues to edge up.
The JOC also notes that with the move of Old Dominion into the third position, the top three LTL carriers are now all non-union for the first time in many years.
