MIT's Matthias Winkenbach on Drone Delivery Challenges

There has been much hype and investment since Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in effect kicked off the drone era with his 2013 interview with 60 Minutes, in which he said the company was activily working on drone-based systems.
Drone proponents have also been bolstered by recent moves to lighten regulation on commercial drones from the Federal Aviation Adminstration.
Hold on! says Matthias Winkenbach, director of the Megacity Logistics Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Wickenbach says there are many real drone challenges, including cost and even route efficiency - though there are some use cases where drones clearly make sense.
