e-Commerce, Omni-Channel Commerce - it's all hot no matter what you call it.
But here is the reality: Many companies are struggling to reach profitability in e-Commerce, and the cost of fuflillment is certainly part of that equation. Fulfillment costs as a percent of sales are rising at Amazon. com - and many other e-tailers as well.
One obvious but often overlooked opportunity is the use of Voice technology in distribution to drive down e-fulfillment costs and thus make a significant contributuibn to the e-Commerce channel's bottom line. And such use is growing, with some retailers starting to implement Voice in-store for order picking when brick and mortar stores are used as fulfillment points.
